Fans of Yalla Pita, the popular food truck that used to operate out of a Shell gas station in Vienna, will soon get the chance to dig into the eatery’s shawarma and falafel again. After closing in May, Yalla Pita is set to reopen this Saturday, August 17, in a permanent new space in Oakton.

The new storefront is at 2946-P Chain Bridge Rd. in Hunter Mill Plaza, near Oakton Elementary School.

Co-owners Saleh Kishta and Mohammad Fdailat first brought Yalla Pita to NoVA early this year, when they relocated the eatery from Culpeper and opened the food truck in Vienna.

It quickly became popular for its shawarma, falafel, pita sandwiches, and spreads like hummus and spicy potato dip. One standout menu item from Yalla Pita’s food truck days was the Challenger, a vegetarian wrap with fried cauliflower, eggplant, fries, pickles, and a boiled egg.

The owners decided to close the food truck in May to focus on opening the new space. Kishta said at the time that he hoped a permanent space would allow them to increase inventory and keep items from selling out too quickly.
