Fans of Moo Thru ice cream will be happy to hear that its ice cream store in Herndon opens on Friday.
The store at 317 Spring St. has been in the making for a year. Getting permits and construction took longer than expected, according to The Burn.
The shop will be open from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and will expand its hours after that. A food truck has been serving ice cream at the location for the past year.
A fourth-generation Fauquier County dairy farmer first opened Moo Thru in 2010. In addition to Herndon, it now has locations in Remington, Hillsboro, Winchester, Lake Anna, and Charlottesville. The ice cream, according to its website, “is handcrafted and slow churned in Remington.”
Moo Thru has ice cream cones, shakes, sundaes, floats, and pints and quarts. This month’s flavors include Ken’s Key Lime Pie and Moo Thru’s Birthday Cake.
Moo Thru is one of the ice cream businesses in Round 1 of our 2024 NoVA Ice Cream Wars, where 32 ice cream places go head-to-head to compete. Vote for your favorite spots. Round 1 closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 9.
Moo Thru also has plans to open a coffee shop in the same location in the next few weeks. 317 Spring St., Herndon
