Yellow Diner in Vienna Opens

The long-awaited Yellow Diner in Vienna opens Monday, bringing American classics and old-school diner food to an eager clientele.

Created by the Pagonis family, owners of the renowned Tysons-area Greek restaurant Nostos (one of Northern Virginia Magazine’s 50 best restaurants), the cheerful, 94-seat diner offers a modern take on classic diner cuisine, as well as a full bar. As Northern Virginia Magazine reported last September, co-owner and Yellow Diner Operating Manager Emanuel Pagonis dreamed up the restaurant’s name — Yellow Diner — during the COVID-19–era.

“It just seemed like a lot of people were not doing the best during COVID, people were a little down so we kind of wanted to open up this happy environment, happy place where everyone would come in,” says Pagonis.

The restaurant’s opening has been several years in the making, and Pagonis says it will serve brunch six days a week, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will offer a modern American restaurant menu for dinner between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Yellow Diner will be closed on Tuesdays.

“Our mission is to be the heart of our community, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere where every guest and employee feels like family,” states the Yellow Diner website. 501 Maple Ave. W., Vienna
